Spring at Montebello Fist Day of School is August 21,2008! School Sign
The Montebello School serves students K-5 in  the unincorporated areas surrounding Mt. Black in Cupertino. Founded in 1892, Montebello is one of the smallest (and highest!) public schools in the Santa Clara Valley.

Montebello K-5 is part of the Montebello School District in Santa Clara County.

The Montebello School Community is committed to enhancing the creative, solid, emotional, and academic talents of the individual child by providing a high-quality education in a compassionate environment. As lifelong learners, our children will acquire the skills and attitudes necessary to be caring, independent, productive, and responsible citizens prepared to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world.

What makes Montebello School unique?

  • Ten to fifteen students per classroom
  • Students compete in mixed grade academic and sport competitions
  • Full-day kindergarten
  • California State Content Standards core academic program
  • Arts and science teacher specialists; physical education program
  • An idyllic park-like setting overlooking the Silicon Valley

Montebello is a place for learning

  • Each student receives individualized instruction
  • Each student participates in science experiments and class projects
  • Each student participates in music, art, and P.E. weekly
  • Each student communicates what had been learned to public audiences-plays, speeches, and special programs

 Montebello is a community

  • Each day, school begins with a morning meeting
  • Montebello families and community members come together for                 "Back to School Night," "The Holiday Performance," "Celebration of Learning," and "Graduation."

Montebello is a school with a history

  • The Picchetti Family worked cooperatively with their neighbors to open the school in 1892
  • A visit here is like a trip back in time. One of the few remaining agricultural areas in Cupertino, Montebello has remained nearly unchanged since the school's inception over a century ago to provide education to the local farming community. A three-room mountain schoolhouse serving about 25 students overlooks the entire Silicon Valley from Moffett Field to Almaden. The campus, whose land was donated by local ranch families,  includes three classrooms, an office, soccer field, library and several computer labs with dedicated high speed connection to the Internet.
